Toolkit

The developer lead toolkit.

The three things I set up before spending anything on media. Use them here, or take the spreadsheets away. Nothing is gated and nothing is sent to us.

01

The response time tracker

Take twenty recent enquiries and find out how long each one waited for a first call. In every team I have measured, the number was several hours worse than anyone guessed, and nobody was doing anything wrong.

What the sheet records

  • Source and campaignso a slow response can be traced to where the lead came from
  • Enquiry date and timefrom the form, not from when somebody noticed it
  • First contact date and timewhen a person actually spoke to them, not when it was attempted
  • Minutes to contactcalculated for you in the sheet
  • Attempts madebecause most teams try once and mark it unreachable
  • Site visit bookedthe outcome that actually matters

Opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Two example rows are included so the format is obvious, delete them and put your own in.

02

The four stage report

Enquiries are the easiest number in the funnel to manufacture and the furthest from a sale. Put last month in below and it will tell you where the pipeline is actually leaking.

Nothing here is transmitted. The figures stay in your browser.

03

The pre-launch checklist

None of these are creative decisions, and a campaign that goes live without them performs averagely no matter how good the advertising is. Your ticks are remembered on this device.

If you would rather we ran it

We set up lead routing, source tracking and this reporting before spending anything on media, because a campaign is only as good as the phone call it produces. If the numbers above told you something uncomfortable, that is usually the cheapest problem you have.
